Who We Are

Church History

Who we are- History and God’s servants:

The Lord has had this church in the community for many years.

Pastor Denny Veenkant started Peace Wesleyan Church in Climax Michigan in July of 1999.

The congregation met in the laundry building/community room at the Climax trailer park from September 1999 until March of 2003.

Then the congregation moved to the gym at the Climax intermediate school until May/June of 2003.

The church changed its name to Peace Community Christian Church in August of 2003.

When the school closed, Peace Community Christian Church went back to the Climax trailer park laundry

building in July of 2003.

Then the church moved into its present building on Main Street in Climax in April of 2004.

April 4, 2004 was their last Sunday service in the laundry building at the Climax trailer park.

April 11, 2004 was their first Sunday service at the new location on Main Street in Climax.

This building was eventually donated as a gift to the church thus making the church debt/mortgage/rent

free and the owners of the church building and property (there is a nice yard to play and park in the back of the building).

The building itself has lots of history in the community and is known as the old gas station.

At one time, there were 4 businesses operating out of the building before it became a church.

Pastor Denny and members of the church did much work to remodel the building from a gas station, into

a functional church building.

The church is also known as the “turn around” as many cars turn around in the front parking lot to head

back into the center of town.

There have been a few pastors to serve at Peace Community Christian Church throughout the years:

Denny Veenkant         1999-2003, 2006-2007, 2010-2019

Dave Mathis                2003-2004

Larry Cuyler               2005

Charlie Carns              2006

[Denny Veenkant        2006-2007]

Dennis Noble              2008-2009

[Denny Veenkant        2010-2019]

Noah Miller                2019-Present

These dates are not all exact- there were sometimes just parts of years served.

Pastor Denny always came back and filled pulpit quite often when the church was without a steady

In 2019 Pastor Denny Veenkant, who had founded and pastored the church for many years, was planning on retiring, and there were thoughts of closing the church.

The Lord orchestrated for Pastor Noah Miller and his family to come and pick up the torch to carry on God’s work here in Climax.

Pastor Noah is a native local resident to the community as he was born and raised in Athens, and went to Bible college in Minnesota before returning to Michigan, getting married to Anne, and beginning pastoring.

Anne was raised in Battle Creek Michigan, and went to Bible college, served as a missionary in Alaska for 4 years before returning to Michigan, married Noah, and started a family and ministry together.

Pastor Noah and Anne pastored a church in Fulton Michigan for 6 years, and then they moved to

Florida to follow the call of God on their family. After 2 years of training, they returned to Michigan seeking the Lord’s will; and the opportunity here at Peace Community Christian Church became open, and clearly God’s will for them, and for the church.

The Lord also at the same time opened up a house on Main Street in Climax for Pastor Noah and his family to rent across the street from the church. The church does not own a parsonage, but this rental house for Pastor has been a blessing for Pastor and his family to be in the community and near the church.

Pastor Noah started out bi-vocational by working other jobs to supplement his income, but as time went on and the church grew- Noah and his family were able to serve and do ministry full time here at Peace Community Christian Church.

Pastor Noah has been serving here at Peace Community Christian Church since July 1, 2019; and the Lord has been moving and continuing to do His work here.

Noah and Anne were married on November 13, 2010, and have 4 kids:

Elijah (born 2011), Naomi (born 2013), Moses (born 2018), Hadassah (born 2020), Enoch (born 2025).

July 2024 marks 25 years for the existence of Peace Community Christian Church.

July 2024 marks 5 years for Pastor Noah Miller serving here.

April 2024 marked 20 years at the present building on Main Street in Climax.

All glory to God!

The Lord has been so gracious, and we give Him all the praise. And now YOU are a part of God’s work here.

God bless you, and may you see miracles in your life in Jesus Christ name.

We love you, and Jesus Christ really loves you.

-- Noah, Anne, Elijah, Naomi, Moses, Hadassah,

and all of us here at Peace Community Christian Church.

Church Covenant with the Lord and this Fellowship of Believers

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, solemnly and joyfully covenant with one another as one body in Christ, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, engage that:

We will walk together in brotherly love, remember one another in prayer, share our joys, bear one

another’s burdens and sorrows, cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy and speech, be slow to take offense and always be ready for reconciliation.

We will attend as faithfully as possible the appointed meetings of the Church, strive to increase its

spirituality, harmony and sense of Divine mission, and give it’s claims a sacred preeminence over all organizations of human origin.

We will contribute regularly and cheerfully, as the Lord has prospered us- for the spread of the Gospel

throughout the world; the support of the Church; and the relief of the poor.

We will cultivate personal holiness, maintain family devotions, educate our children in Christian living,

seek the salvation of our family and acquaintances and, by lives of kindness, integrity, sobriety, holy living, and self-control - strive to commend our faith and hold fast our profession until Christ shall come to receive us unto Himself.
