What We Believe
Peace Community Christian Church

What we believe:
Doctrine
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, supernaturally inspired so that it is inerrant in the original manuscripts and preserved by God in its verbal, plenary inspiration; that it is a Divinely authoritative standard for every age and every life

We believe that the Godhead exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that these three are one God.

We believe that God is absolute and sole Creator of the universe, and that creation was by Divine order, not through evolutionary process.

We believe that God, by His sovereign choice and out of love for men, sent Christ into the world to save sinners.

We believe that Jesus Christ in the flesh was both God and man, that He was born of a virgin and that
He lived a sinless life, in which He taught and wrought mighty works and wonders and signs exactly as revealed in the four Gospels, that He was crucified, died as a penalty for our sins and was raised from the dead bodily on the third day. Later He ascended to the Father’s right hand where He is the head of the Church and intercedes for believers, and from whence He is coming again personally, bodily, visibly to this earth to set up His millennial kingdom.
We believe that in His death, by His shed blood, the Lord, Jesus Christ made a perfect atonement for sin, redeeming us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us – men are saved, justified on the simple and single ground of the shed blood; and for true salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe that salvation with its forgiveness of sins, its importation of a new nature and its hope of
eternal life, is entirely apart from good works, baptism, Church membership – or man’s efforts – and is of pure grace.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the primary personage of the Godhead that we deal with on a daily
basis. We believe that there is a second experience subsequent to that of salvation whereby we are filled or controlled by the Holy Spirit. This filling then imparts power to witness, victory over the flesh, weapons for warfare against spiritual enemies, and gifts for the furtherance of the ministry and edifying of the body.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved, and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Jesus Christ.

The Bible
The Bible is the inspired, the only infallible authoritative Word of God, supernaturally inspired so that it
is inerrant in the original manuscripts and preserved by God in its verbal, plenary inspiration; that it is a Divinely authoritative standard for every age and every life.
God
There is one God – Lord God Almighty, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and these three are one God with distinct personalities and roles, but one unified nature.
God is absolute and sole Creator of the universe, and that creation was by Divine order, not through
evolutionary process.
God, by His sovereign choice and out of love for men, sent Christ into the world to save
sinners.
Jesus Christ
In the Lord Jesus Christ is all the fullness of the deity, He was the Son of God, born of a virgin, He was
in the flesh both God and man, He lived a sinless life, He did miracles, He died and shed His atoning blood as a penalty for our sins, His body was resurrected from the dead on the third day, He ascended to the right hand of the Father where He is the head of the Church and intercedes for believers, and He will return again personally, bodily, visibly to this earth in power and glory.
Through Jesus Christ’s blood there is salvation of lost and sinful man. Jesus Christ made a perfect
atonement for sin, redeeming us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us – men are saved, born again, justified by grace through faith; and true salvation by regeneration of Holy Spirit.
Salvation
Salvation with its forgiveness of sins, the new birth, brings about a new nature and its hope of eternal life, is entirely apart from good works, baptism, Church membership, or man’s efforts – and is a free gift of pure grace.
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead. He is co-equal, co-eternal and co-existent with the
Father and with the Son. His ministry upon the earth is to convict and covert man as well as be the great paraclete (comforter, counselor, helper, intercessor, advocate, strengthener and standby) to the Church, The Holy Spirit indwells the Christian when born again and enables them to live a Godly life.
Baptism of the Holy Spirit
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit and Fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus to all believers
and is a second experience subsequent to that of salvation and is distinct from the experience of New Birth whereby we are filled or controlled by the Holy Spirit. This filling then imparts power to witness, victory over the flesh, weapons for warfare against spiritual enemies, and gifts for the furtherance of the ministry and edifying of the body. With it comes the enduement of power for life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is meant to empower the believer to be a witness of Jesus Christ by the
preaching and demonstration of the Gospel. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are also evidence of this experience. Whereas there is one initial baptism, there are many subsequent infillings of the Spirit. The ultimate purpose of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is so that we, the believers, may have power to be witnesses. (Matthew 3:11; Luke 24:29; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:4, 8; Acts 2; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31).
Man/Mankind/Humankind
Man was created good and upright, for God said “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our
likeness;” … God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” But man, by voluntary transgression, fell, and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ the Son of God.
Mankind’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God. Salvation
is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. By the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, being justified by grace through faith, man becomes an heir of God, according to the hope of eternal life. The inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit. The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness.
(Genesis 1:26-31: 3:1-7; Luke 24:47; John 3:3; Romans 5:12-21; Romans 8:16; Romans 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:8; Ephesians 4:24; Titus 2:11-12; Titus 3:5-7).
Resurrection
“It is appointed unto man to die once, then comes the judgement.”
The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation, together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord, is the imminent and blessed hope of the church.
(Romans 8:23; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:12; Hebrews 9:27).
Promises
The revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ from heaven, the salvation of national Israel, and the Millennial
reign of Christ on earth is the Scriptural promise and the world’s hope.
(Romans 11:26-27; 2 Thessalonians 1:17; Revelation 19:11-14; Revelation 20:1-7).
Judgment
There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their
works. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, will be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. “We, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
(2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 19:20; Revelation 20:10-15; Revelation 21, 22).
The Church
There is spiritual unity of believers in Jesus Christ. The church is the body of Christ with many gifts and
ministries, the habitation of God on earth through the Spirit with divine appointments for the fulfillment of the great commission.
(Mark 16:15-20; John 4:23,24; Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 2:22; Ephesians 4:11-16;
Hebrews 12:33).
Baptism and Communion
The Lord Jesus Christ, Head of the Church, established two ordinances for the Church to follow:
Water Baptism and Communion.
Baptism in water, by full immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord. It is for all believers. This holy sacrament identifies the believer with Jesus in His death, burial and resurrection.
The ordinance of Communion is also a commandment of the Lord Jesus that must be received
consistently until His return. Only believers can come to the Table of the Lord, which consists of the bread to represent His body and the cup to represent His blood. Both elements are witnesses of the New Covenant believers now enjoy while prophetically declaring His soon return.
(Matthew 28:19; Acts 10:47-48; Acts 20:21; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 11:26;
Hebrews 10:22; 2 Peter 1:4).
Sanctification
The Scripture teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord (). Sanctification is a definite, yet progressive work of grace in the life of a believer.
(1 Corinthians 1:30; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Philippians 3:12-14; I Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 12:14).
Healing
Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers
(Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17).
Marriage and Family
God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man
and a woman.
According to the Word of God the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one man and one woman.
According to the Word of God any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest,
fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex.
God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance.
(Genesis 2:24; Genesis 19:5,13; Genesis 26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29;
Romans 7:2I Corinthians 5:1; I Corinthians 6:9; I Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 5:22-23;
I Thessalonians 4:18; Hebrews 13:4).
